Whether you are buying for a new model , replacing a clapped out engine or are looking to improve the performance of your car, there are a number of engines to choose from.   In our opinion OS is the best make to buy, however Kyosho do produce a nice range of engines at affordable prices.

The list below shows the most popular engines we sell.  The list is not exclusive, if you are looking for a particular engine not shown here let us know and we will try to help.

You can find much on site information on engine theory here.

.10 - .15 Class engines

Vixen 12

The Vixen .12 engine is an ideal first upgrade motor. It features ball raced crankshaft, twin needle carb, side exhaust, and pullstart. All the mounting points are suitable for 1/10 th scale cars, and in most cases it is a drop in replacement. The internals feature an OS ABC piston and liner, and a steel bushed conrod. Power output is .56 bhp, and RPM range is 3,000 - 30,000.

Kyosho GX12
The GX12 pullstart engine is now being used in the majority of Kyosho's range. It is twin ballraced, side exhaust, features a low cylinder head which is excellent for sports style body shells, and has a single needle carb. The power output is also slightly greater than the GT-12S-CR.

Kyosho GX-12 (6415 bytes)
Kyosho GX15
The GX15 is almost identical in construction to the GX12, and as a result you get even more horse power crammed into the same size. It retains the same features, twin ballraced, side exhaust, and has a single needle carb. As the power output is greater than the GX12, the GX15 has a larger cylinder head..

Kyosho GS11R
This twin ballraced powerhouse is definitely one of Kyosho's finest engines. It is currently being sold with the more upmarket MkII Spider Series. It is without a doubt great value for money. Performance is comparable to some of the OS engines. Its is very easy to setup, again featuring a single needle carb, goes like a train, and is side exhaust.

Kyosho GS-11R (3720 bytes)
Kyosho GS15R
Kyosho have improved on the GS-11R, an already brilliant engine by squeezing more capacity and power into the same size. Again featuring twin ballraces, and side exhaust, but this time the carb is twin needle to enable you to get the crispest acceleration possible. It is currently being sold with the very competitive V-One S chassis.

OS Max 12CV
A quality high performance .12 class engine, this twin ballraced OS has been designed with a large heat sink head to provide excellent cooling. Superb performance, great value for money, also features a twin needle carb, and side exhaust. Max power ouput is 0.56ps @ 29,000r.p.m, and RPM range is 3,000-30,000

OS Max 12CV-X
As above but also featuring a pull start.

£124.99

OS Max 12CV-X (6621 bytes)
OS Max 12CV-R
This latest development from OS brings them back on top. From its 1/10 th package it produces almost 1/8th performance. It features twin ballraces, side exhaust, twin needle carb, strengthened crankcase, and bags of power. Max power is 1.0ps @ 31,000 rpm. RPM range is 4,000-36,000.

£144.99

OS Max 12CV-R (6670 bytes)
OS Max 12CV-RX
As above but also featuring a pull start.

£169.99

OS Max 12CV-RX (8258 bytes)
OS Max 12LD-X
The LD-X is the first engine designed purposefully for cars (as opposed to buggies) and comes complete with pull start.  The lay down design means a lower centre of gravity and the extensive finning provides exceptional cooling in limited airflow conditions.  It even looks like a real car engine!. Features twin ballraces, and a twin needle carb. Max power output is 0.56ps @ 28,000 rpm. RPM range is 3,000-33,000.

£134.99

OS Max 12LD-X (6669 bytes)
OS Max 15CV
The OS15CV-X is probably OS' most popular engine.  Physically similar to the 12CV but it provides a 21% increase in power without the need to modify the car in any way.  Outstanding build quality and breathtaking performance. Features twin ballraces, side exhaust, and a twin needle carb.Max power is 0.68ps @ 29,000 rpm. RPM range is 3,000-30,000.

OS Max 15CV-X
As above but also featuring a pull start.

OS Max 15CV-X (6660 bytes)
OS Max 15RX
(rear exhaust circuit - serpent shaft)
The 15RX has been purposefully designed to work within regulations laid down for .15 circuit engines.  Performance is as expected from OS with a true ABC piston/cylinder assembly and optimised porting. Features rear exhaust, twin needle carb, and twin ball races. Max power is 1.2ps @ 28,000 rpm. RPM range is 3,000-33,000.

.20 - .21 Class engines

Kyosho GS21R
The GS21R is designed for the larger 1/8th scale models and can currently be found in the Inferno DX and Landmax based cars.  A powerful pullstart engine that features twin slide needle carb, rear exhaust, and twin ballraces..

Kyosho GS21R (5951 bytes)
OS Max 21RG
The 21RG is a mid range engine designed for the larger scale buggies.  It has a true ABC piston/liner assembly, effective machined heat sink and rear exhaust format which is better suited to many car configurations because of the exhaust routing and gearbox positioning. Feature twin needle slide carb, rear exhaust, and twin ballraces. Max power is 1.9ps @ 30,000 rpm. RPM range is 3,000-35,000.

serpent shaft £134.99
standard shaft £134.99

OS Max 21RG (7796 bytes)

OS Max 21VZ-B (P)
This engine improves upon the .21 RZ-V01B(P) that powered Greg Degani to victory at IFMAR! The newly developed 20L carburettor features a double adjustable low-range needle for extra precision, and works with the metering valve and nozzle to increase combustion efficiency. Other features :

  • Three ports, combined with a larger diameter crankshaft, create the higher torque that off-road competitors desire.

  • A larger heat sink head improves cooling, while the compact 203 Super Air Cleaner fits easily inside the latest off-road buggies.

  • The piston is machined from a special bar stock that contains a higher silicon content to make the compression higher and last longer.

  • Piston sleeve has new port shapes and chrome plating for longer durability.

  • Max power is 2.45ps @ 32,000. RPM range is 3,000-40,000.

serpent shaft £234.99
